When traveling in Spain or other Spanish speaking countries, it will be important to know how to ask questions. If you can learn the common question words in Spanish, you can get a lot of information. Here is how to ask common Spanish questions.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Say, "¿Cómo?" to ask how. This word is also used in "¿Cómo te llamas?" which means, "What is your name?" It always has an accent over the first "o."

  2. Step 2

Ask, "¿Cuánto?" and "¿Cuánto es" to get information about how much something is. This literally mean "How much?" and "How much is it?" These will also have an accent mark over the first "a."

  3. Step 3

Learn to say, "¿Quién?" and "¿Dónde?" These question words mean, "Who" and "where." You can simply add the word "es" to both of these words to mean, "Who is it?" and "Where is it?" "¿Quién?" will always have an accent over the "e" and "¿Dónde?" will always have an accent over the "o."

  4. Step 4

Use "¿Qué?" to ask "what?", "¿Por qué?" to ask, "why?" and "¿Cuál?" to ask which. You can also add the word "es" to these question words to ask "what is it?", "why is it?", and "which is it?". "¿Qué?" and "¿Por qué?" will always have an accent over the "e" and "¿Cuál?" will always have an accent over the "a."

Tips & Warnings
  • Practice asking questions in Spanish every day. The more you practice, the more comfortable you will become with using them in everyday conversations.
  • All Spanish questions must begin with an inverted question mark.
  • Question words always have to have an accent mark. Without an accent mark, the meaning of the word will change.
