When taking on the task of arranging wedding flowers, prepare to invest a lot of time and effort. After you have chosen the color scheme and budget, it is time to get the supplies and plan the floral design. Use the list below to be sure you have the essential tools needed.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Buy the flowers according to the color scheme. See which flowers are fresh where you live during the season of the wedding. According to what you can get in season, think about contrasting sizes, textures, colors and complementary colors.

  2. Step 2

Purchase greenery. The shade of green should offset the color of the flowers a bit, and the texture should contrast. The greenery should be subtle and never overshadow the flowers.

  3. Step 3

Pick floral tape. The tape comes in light and dark green, pink and other colors. Find it in most craft or department stores for only a couple of dollars a roll. Purchase it wholesale and even cheaper at online stores like Create for Less and Amazon.

  4. Step 4

Locate some wire. Wire is also found in most craft stores for only a few dollars. It comes in different gauges, and it is better to get a small gauge for floral arrangements like 16 or 18.

  5. Step 5

Get wire cutters. Wire cutters can also be found anywhere. They range in price from a couple dollars to much more. Invest as much as you'd like, but the most expensive ones are not necessary to cut through thin floral wire.

  6. Step 6

Find scissors to cut through flower stems and ribbon. Any scissors work--you don't need special ones.

  7. Step 7

Choose ribbon. Much thought needs to be put into ribbon color and size as well, depending on the overall design of the arrangement. Ribbon comes in widths from 1/8th of an inch to several inches wide. The color can contrast or complement the flowers.
