While pole dancing was once considered dirty, it is quickly becoming America's new fitness craze. Pole dancing is actually an extremely challenging form of exercise which works and sculpts the muscles of the entire body. Not only is pole dancing fun and sensual, it's a challenging workout. With a few tips, you can add the butterfly trick to your pole dance routine.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Stand with your right side next to the pole. Reach your right hand up high on the pole and begin to walk briskly, yet gracefully around the pole. Complete 2 full circles around the pole to help gain momentum.

  2. Step 2

Complete the second turn around the pole and gracefully bend your right knee, wrapping it around the pole. Engage your core muscles deep in your abdomen in preparation for the move. Open your left arm, like the wings of a butterfly, with your elbow very slightly bent and your palm face up.

  3. Step 3

Lift your left foot off of the ground and bend the knee, using the momentum you have created to keep your body turning around the pole. You should only be holding on with the crook of your right knee and your right hand.

  4. Step 4

Keep your left arm open in full butterfly as you make at least 2 full turns around the pole before reaching the floor. The butterfly is a classic pole dance move which works the muscles of the abdomen, and while it appears to be difficult, it should not require too much effort to master.
