Learning to cradle a lacrosse ball can be challenging at times and usually takes an individual time to learn and become comfortable with the act. Cradling is keeping the ball in the pocket of your stick without losing possession. The following steps will tell you how to master this feat.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Place your dominant hand under the neck of the stick and your other hand at the very end of the stick. The top hand will be used to control the stick and the bottom one is for stability. Your bottom hand should be loose around the stick.

  2. Step 2

Roll your top wrist into extension. Your bottom hand, still being held loosely, should make a "C" shape. This can be done by your shaping your thumb and fingers into this position. You top forearm should move in the same manner as a hinged door. This will allow you to be in the position to pass or shoot at anytime.

  3. Step 3

Cradle the ball by keeping your stick in your face at all times. Your stick should always be vertical to the ground and always in front of your eyes. This will help prevent the ball from being knocked loose when you are checked during the game.

  4. Step 4

Practice picking up and cradling balls every day for at least 20 minutes a day. Cradling a lacrosse ball can be a very challenging and uncomfortable part of the game. The only way to get better and become comfortable is by practicing the skill.
