If you're looking for an icebreaker for your next party, consider getting a karaoke machine or playing karaoke games. Karaoke is one of the great party games that lends itself to helping people get to know one another quickly.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Karaoke machine or an iPod with headphones
  1. Step 1

Consider what equipment you will use. You can play party games with an iPod and headphones and have the guests guess what song a guest is singing. Or, you can go all out with a high tech karaoke machine.

  2. Step 2

Select a song that you are familiar with to sing karaoke. Knowing a song to listen to it and knowing a song well enough to sing it are 2 different things. Pick a song you know inside and out to perform it well.

  3. Step 3

Be courteous to the other singers. No matter how badly the others sing, applaud. Refrain from making derogatory comments, even in jest. The whole purpose of these karaoke games is to be an icebreaker and get to know the group better.

  4. Step 4

Join in with another singer only if invited. Most singers will not appreciate their performance interrupted and may feel like you are intruding. Wait for an invitation or suggest a new song the group can sing together when it's your turn.

  5. Step 5

Stay away from fast paced songs like rap songs. When you are new to karaoke, it is much easier and you get a better result if you choose a slower, mellow song to perform during icebreaker party games.
