You have finished with the process of rolling your hair and have applied the permanent wave solution. Now, you must properly rinse out the waving solution. Once you finish rinsing, you are one step closer to completing your perm.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sink
  • Water
  • Towel
  1. Step 1

Allow the permanent solution to remain in your hair for the appropriate amount of time.

  2. Step 2

Remove the plastic bag and check a curl to see if your hair is finished curling. Unroll the curl almost all of the way and look for a gentle "S" pattern to form, as you apply gentle pressure.

  3. Step 3

Turn on the faucet to adjust the water temperature to very warm. The kitchen is ideal for rinsing if you have a sprayer on the sink. Place a clean dry towel near the sink.

  4. Step 4

Take your time rinsing. Rinse each rod thoroughly for about 3 to 5 minutes. Do not remove the permanent wave rods.

  5. Step 5

Blot your head completely with a thick, dry towel. Pay special attention here. Too much water left in the hair will water down your perm.

  6. Step 6

Prepare to apply the neutralizer solution.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you do not have a sprayer on the sink, try rinsing by pouring glasses full of water over your hair until you have completed the rinse.
  • The longer your hair, the longer you must rinse.
  • Failure to rinse out the permanent wave solution completely causes frizzy hair.
  • Protect your eyes from permanent wave solution while rinsing.
