Making braided hemp jewelry is inexpensive way to add to your collection. The process can be as straightforward or creative as you like. Once you know how to combine knots, you can create unique jewelry that friends and family will not find anywhere else.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Board
  • Nail
  • Hemp
  • Button
  1. Step 1

Secure a nail to a length of a board or a tabletop dedicated to crafting. This will secure the hemp as you work.

  2. Step 2

Cut a length of hemp that is approximately five times the length bracelet you'd like the bracelet to be.

  3. Step 3

Measure out another length of hemp that is twice as long as the first. Fold it in half and hold it together with the single strand you cut in Step 2.

  4. Step 4

Hold the string you cut in Step 2 so that its end is even with the loop you made in Step 3. Wrap the loop and the end into a simple knot. Pull the knot tightly and snip off the end of the single strand.

  5. Step 5

Secure the loop over the nail on the board.

  6. Step 6

Braid the bracelet by pulling the left strand of hemp over the center strand. Then, pull the right strand over the center strand. Repeat this process until you've reached the end of the hemp, or until the bracelet is long enough.

  7. Step 7

Tie a button to the end of the braided length of hemp and pull it tight. Trim off any excess hemp without actually cutting into the knot. The new piece of braided hemp jewelry is complete.
