Step 1
Determine your hair type. Your hair can be fine, coarse, curly or straight. Take into consideration if your hair is color treated or has a permanent wave, as well. If you have any questions as to what type of hair you have, ask your beautician.
-
Step 2
Read the shampoo labels that you are considering. Labels tell you what type of hair the shampoo is for, directions on how to use it and the ingredients used to make the shampoo.
-
Step 3
Smell the shampoo. The way a product smells will affect you, so make sure it has the qualities you want and a smell that you will enjoy when washing.
-
Step 4
Ask your beautician for recommendations. If you are still confused and need advice on which shampoo to use, ask for advice. They will more than likely recommend a shampoo that they sell, but it will most likely work with your hair type.
-
Step 5
Purchase conditioner to put moisture back into your hair. Shampoo takes out the dirt, but also removes some of your natural moisture. Use these same steps to determine what type of conditioner to purchase.
