Step 1
Stretch your muscles before golfing. Lie on the ground, bend one knee and cross that leg over the other straightened leg. Repeat with the other leg. Then stand, grasp your right wrist with your left hand (or vice versa) and turn in a backswing movement to stretch the lower back. Repeat to each side.
-
Step 2
Use a higher tee. This will help your driver to make contact with the part of the ball that will help to carry it farther. Note: you'll need to adjust your stance and swing to accommodate a higher tee.
-
Step 3
Select a driver with a shaft that is flexible rather than stiff. A shaft that can bend slightly will give an extra edge to your swing and help to increase your distance. However, if you have a high swing speed, a flexible shaft will not be for you.
-
Step 4
Choose a driver club length of less than 45 inches. Using a shorter club increases your chances of hitting the right spot on the ball that will drive it farther than using a longer club.
-
Step 5
Develop a faster swing speed. At first you will sacrifice control for distance, but with practice you can increase your speed and retain your accuracy.
