Step 1
Cut the sheet to the right length. A long costume will hide your feet, but will also become more material to trip over.

Make the holes for your eyes big enough to see clearly. If you're concerned about the illusion, simply apply white stage makeup to the parts of your face that will be visible.

Wear comfortable flat shoes. Styles that make you trip even when you're not wearing the ghost costume will put you at an immediate disadvantage.

Consider walking the area the day before the event to survey the ground condition. Look for uneven spots or obstacles to be aware of while you're in costume.

Ask someone to walk in front of you to clear a path. If a child is wearing the costume, be sure to hold his hand until you reach an area that's completely safe.

Resist the urge to goof off. Running and galloping, for example, may lead you to bump into objects out of your line of vision and fall over.
