Friendship bracelets are made from floss, hemp, wire and everything in between. They're crafted mostly with knots, representing bonds that cannot be easily broken. The bracelets are popular with adolescents, both male and female, as well as with surfers and present-day hippies. You can follow the traditional uses of friendship bracelets or you can create your own uses.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make a friendship bracelet for your best friend, or for everyone in your close group of friends. Use colors to personalize it for the intended receiver. Make the bracelets together at a sleepover or get together to make them more meaningful.

  2. Step 2

Use a homemade friendship bracelet as a symbol to your ex-boyfriend or girlfriend. The bracelet represents your new commitment to your friendship even in the loss of the romantic relationship.

  3. Step 3

Personalize a friendship bracelet by adding stones or gems of someone's birth month and surprise them with it as a birthday present.

  4. Step 4

Find pet uses for your friendship bracelets, like collars or cat leashes. The bracelet needs to be longer than it would for a child's wrist. Before you tie the knot around the animal's neck, make sure you can slip the bracelet on and off easily.

  5. Step 5

Tie it around a key chain to decorate your car or house keys. Tie the knot around the single part of the silver metal key chain and slide it into the double part just like you would a key.

  6. Step 6

Support your kids' school. Have children create the bracelets in their school colors and sell them at craft fairs and sporting events to raise money for field trips and educational uses.

  7. Step 7

Glue friendship bracelets on plain hair clips to spice them up and add fringe and color to any hairstyle. Use clear superglue and let it dry overnight before wearing.
