Step 1
Consult your veterinarian to determine the best kind of raw meat for your dog. Some dogs have allergies or medical conditions that will prevent them from eating certain foods.
-
Step 2
Buy fresh meat from a butcher, if possible. Frozen meat loses some of its nutrients.
-
Step 3
Sanitize all surfaces and utensils that will come into contact with the homemade dog food. Domesticated dogs have a weaker immune system than wild dogs so, it is very important to follow proper food safety procedures.
-
Step 4
Cut open the meat package and dump the meat into a bowl.
-
Step 5
Discard any inedible pieces and the packaging.
-
Step 6
Cut the meat into bite-sized pieces for your dog and place in a serving bowl or storage container. The pieces should be small enough so the dog doesn't choke. Mix all other necessary ingredients with the meat.
-
Step 7
Wash your hands and any surfaces or utensils that came into contact with the raw meat.
