1. Buy a flea bomb. Make sure it contains chemicals that kill not only the fleas, but their eggs and larvae too. The eggs and larvae are resistant to insecticides, and can live a long time, causing problems down the road, so it is necessary to destroy them as well.

2. Protect the areas of your house that you do not want contaminated by the flea bomb. The fogger will spray insecticide throughout your home and residue may remain after the bomb is complete. Cover any food items or toys that children play with, as well as dishes and toothbrushes.

3. Vacuum the soft surfaces of your home thoroughly. This helps remove live fleas, eggs and larvae before the bomb begins. Dispose of the vacuum bag or empty your canister in an outside location.

4. Remove all people and pets from the home. The package containing the flea bomb should tell you how long to wait before returning to your home.

5. Place the bomb in a central location and trigger it to begin.

6. Vacuum and mop the floor surfaces again, to remove traces of insecticide that remain. Wipe all surfaces of the home to remove residue as well.
