1
Find a comfortable grip on the disc. Your fingers should be on the underside of the disc and your thumb on top. Throwing the disc short distances is the best way to find the best grip for you.
-
2
Stand back from the imaginary throwing mark. Approach the mark with your dominant side facing the target. Cross your left leg behind your right leg, move the right leg a step to the right, and use the momentum to get maximum throwing power. Hold your throwing arm as far away from the target as possible as you start. Your center of gravity starts on your back foot, but as you work through this "X" step, your center of gravity shifts to your front foot.

Use the momentum to throw with a stiff arm or flex your elbow. It's a matter of preference. Even the experts don't agree.
-
4
Follow through on the throw. With the right throwing motion, your body should have the nondominant shoulder facing the target when the backhand is complete.
-
5
Throw the disc over and over again for practice. Work on your stance so that it is fluid and graceful. Also try to make sure the disc is horizontal at all times. This helps insure maximum flight.
