Adding accessories to cornrows allows you to express your personality in a variety of ways. You can add beads, crystals, ribbons or anything you can think of to provide bounce and color. Accessorizing your cornrows will set you apart.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Beads
  • Thin wire
  • Ribbon
  • Crochet hook
  1. Step 1

Cornrow the hair as you normally would. Leave a small amount of hair unbraided at the end.

  2. Step 2

Bend a thin piece of wire in half without breaking it.

  3. Step 3

Bead the wire with the accessories you want to put in your hair.

  4. Step 4

Guide the end of the braid under under the bent portion of the wire and pull the hair through. The beads will stay in place.

  5. Step 5

Push the beads up so that a small length of hair remains below. This needs to be long enough to reach around and slightly above the bead.

  6. Step 6

Wrap a short length at the end of the braid over the bead and secure with a rubber band meant to be used in hair. The very thin almost invisible ones work best because they don't distract from the accessories. This also holds the braid and beads in place.

  7. Step 7

Twine a thin ribbon through the cornrows by folding it in half and twisting through the cornrow with the wire or crochet hook. Leave enough to tie into pretty bows at the end of each cornrow, or you can let them to hang loosely.
