Fruit centerpieces can be elaborate, such as the sculpted wonders featured on cruise ships, but they can also be as simple as an arrangement of fruits that complements your home's décor. You can make an edible fruit centerpiece or you can design a centerpiece crafted from whole fruits designed to last for weeks.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Assorted fruit
  • Evergreen branches
  • Marker
  • Paring knife
  • Melon ball scoop
  • Foam core
  • Wooden skewers
  • Assorted foliage
  • Hurricane jar
  1. Step 1

Choose fruits that coordinate with the color of your room or the season. You can create a Christmas centerpiece with apples and evergreen branches, or a tropical centerpiece with kiwis, star fruits and pineapple.

  2. Step 2

Create an edible fruit centerpiece for a children's party. Use a marker to draw a handle on the rind of a watermelon. Remove the rind around the handle with a sharp paring knife, and prepare the flesh for the melon basket with a melon ball scoop.

  3. Step 3

Save money on fruit centerpieces by attaching fruit to a foam core with wooden skewers. You can buy foam cores in different sizes, such as a conical shape, which you can turn into a tree studded with whole fruits mixed with cut fruit chunks for eating.

  4. Step 4

Fill in the gaps between fruit pieces with foliage from your yard or from the florist. Branches from citrus trees are shiny and leathery, which make a durable centerpiece filling. Herb foliage is short-lived, but adds fragrance to the centerpiece.

  5. Step 5

Highlight the natural beauty of fruit by creating a centerpiece with a large glass hurricane jar. Fill the jar with one kind of fruit, like lemons, for a bold color statement. You can fill the jar with water also if desired.
