Washing your car is an integral part of the overall maintenance and long life of the vehicle. It protects the paint, tint and external features of the car from driving wear and tear. Wash the front of your car with a few tips from the experts to keep it looking like new.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Water hose
  • Bug sponge
  • Auto degreaser
  1. Step 1

Park the car in a shaded area so it is not in direct sunlight. This can speed up chemical reactions and dries quicker so you need to apply water constantly. Ensure that the car isn't under a heavily dropping tree to prevent foliage falling while you are cleaning.

  2. Step 2

Soak the front of the car with the water hose until the entire area is wet. If it is a very hot day, keep the water hose at hand to reapply if the area dries, but only use it on the part of the car you are currently cleaning, to stop water waste.

  3. Step 3

Spray the automotive degreaser all over the front of the vehicle, paying special attention to the grill and lights. You can find a degreaser at any auto store, but try to choose one that is eco-friendly and doesn't contain chemicals that are harmful to the environment.

  4. Step 4

Scrub the entire area with a special bug sponge until you have loosened all the dirt, bugs and bird droppings on the car. You may need to repeat this process to get rid of stubborn marks, so rinse in between to see the affected areas better and reapply the bug spray.

  5. Step 5

Finish scrubbing and rinse off the area with the water hose a final time. The front of the car is now clean, so you can move on to the other dirty areas such as the wheels, tires and underside before finishing with the cleaner areas such as the top of the vehicle.

Tips & Warnings
  • Clean your car at least once a month to prevent moisture corrosion and paint damage.
