Once you are comfortable with some basic break dancing moves, you can add additional steps to your dance. The new steps show off your personal break dancing style as well as allow you to choreograph new routines. Your goal when adding new steps is to show that you are a fearless dancer with unique footwork.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Learn the six most basic steps of break dancing, before you decide to add steps to your routine.

  2. Step 2

Incorporate other areas of dance. Your added steps don't have to be break dancing moves. Consider other areas of dance, including jazz and hip hop.

  3. Step 3

Count off your steps. To maintain the rhythm, you need to constantly count off in your head while you dance.

  4. Step 4

Mix both floor moves and moves performed while standing up. The variety makes your routine more challenging and entertaining.

  5. Step 5

Keep moving. One of the most important rules of break dancing is to move constantly. All of the steps that you add to your dance must constantly flow with the rest of your moves.

  6. Step 6

Practice regularly. The more that you practice, the more skilled at adding steps you'll become.

Tips & Warnings
  • When you first add steps, perform them at a slow speed. Quicken the pace once you master the moves.
  • You may want to practice each break dancing move separately for awhile, before putting them together.
