For novice fighters, the hip toss to arm bar combination is an easy move to learn and master. This martial arts combination will surprise your opponent and quickly end any fight. Learn this simple technique that every martial artist should know.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Step in with your right foot between your opponent's legs as you grasp their right arm with your left hand. Then hook your right arm under their right armpit, while quickly turning into their body.

  2. Step 2

Squat your legs as you pivot your hips stepping around and back (making a small circle) with the left leg. Your butt should now face the midsection of your opponent with your right shoulder underneath their right armpit.

  3. Step 3

Lift your foe by driving up with your legs while bending at the waist as you maintain your grasp. Turn your torso to the left and down to finish the throw. Your adversary should now be on the ground with their right arm between your hands.

  4. Step 4

Hold your opponent's arm while stepping over their chest with your right foot. Their arm should be between your arms and legs.

  5. Step 5

Sit onto the floor and rock back bringing your knees together. Raise your hips to bend their arm and force a submission.

Tips & Warnings
  • Perform this hold in a controlled manner until you have mastered the technique.
  • Be careful not to raise your hips too quickly (or with too much force) when practicing the hold as this may break your opponent's arm.
  • Always train under the close supervision of an experience mixed martial artist.
