Step 1
Locate the barrel adjusters for the brakes at the front left handle of your bike for the front tire and the right front handle for the back tire brake.
-
Step 2
Place your fingers on the barrel adjusters while squeezing the brake handle down.
-
Step 3
Adjust the barrel with your fingers, turning the barrel left or right and feeling the barrel tighten or loosen.
-
Step 4
Determine which direction tightens the barrel, and then go that direction to tighten the cables. Continue with the other brake handle, performing the same adjustment to the barrel.
-
Step 1
Locate the cable to your gear housing.
-
Step 2
Place your fingers on the knob of the gear shifter while holding the gear cables.
-
Step 3
Turn the shifter left and right until you notice which turn tightens the knob. Turn the knob about a quarter turn to tighten the gear knob.
-
Step 4
Hold the gear cable after adjusting the knob. If it feels tighter, that's all you need to do. The gear cable works better now.
-
Step 5
Find your rear derailer at the back tire.
-
Step 6
Lift the protective cover off the rear gear adjuster to get to the barrel adjuster.
-
Step 7
Turn the barrel adjuster left or right very carefully until you notice more tension.
