Step 1
Stand with your feet side by side about six inches apart. Prepare to make a "Z" pattern with your knees. It will be a right, left, right movement.
-
Step 2
Swing your knees, while you keep them together, to the right as you lower your body slightly. This is the first part of the "Z."
-
Step 3
Swivel your knees to the left, going down a bit further and still keeping your knees together. This is the second part of the "Z."
-
Step 4
Sway the knees back to the right again as you go down in a squat position. This is the third and final part of the "Z." The left arm can touch the floor just behind the left hip to support your body to prepare to do your first dance movement on the floor or in the "down rock" position.
-
Step 5
Practice doing the zig-zag go-down movement slowly at first. As you get accustomed to the zig-zag movement, pick up your pace or your speed.
-
Step 6
Apply the zig-zag go-down movement to the music. Feel the beat of the music and let your body move to the rhythm. As you move your knees in the zig-zag go-down movement, let your arms swing and sway to the music in sync with the movements your knees are doing.
