Break dancing is an improvised athletic style of dance associated with the hip hop culture. A break dancer, or b-boy or b-girl, uses a vocabulary of break dance moves and puts them together in his or her own style. One of these moves is a floor move called the cee-cee shuffle. Follow the steps below to learn how to do this beginner footwork break dancing move.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Start in a squat up on your toes. Keep your weight forward and your arms out in front. One possibility is to rest your elbows on your knees.

  2. Step 2

Place your right hand on the floor next to you. At the same time kick your right leg out to the front. Your left hand is free and held up in the air by your shoulder.

  3. Step 3

Bring your left hand over your body and to the floor next to the right hand. At the same time, pivot your body on the right toe bringing the left leg off the ground in a tucked position with your knees together.

  4. Step 4

Shift your weight back over, put your left foot back down then do a quick shuffle, switching legs and arms. Now your left hand is on the ground and left leg out in front. Pivot on the left toe, bringing your right arm and leg over just like you did on the other side.

  5. Step 5

Repeat Steps 1 through 4 several times. Go slow until you get the dance move down then speed it up. Incorporate the cee-cee with any other break dance move and put your own style to it.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep your weight forward in a seated position when doing the cee-cee. Basically you're just kicking a leg out and shifting the weight to one side, not back.
  • Trying to perform this break dance move with tight, cold muscles can result in injury. Warm your muscles up and stretch thoroughly before attempting the cee-cee shuffle.
