Instructions

    • 1

Stand in front of a mirror to practice how to stand near the badminton net.

    • 2

Start by planting your feet firmly on the racquetball court, two or three feet from the line. This gets you into the basic stance.

    • 3

Keep your feet parallel with one another and even with your shoulders. Carefully place your legs far enough apart that they hold your weight evenly. This placement is called the "stance of readiness."

    • 4

Relax and slightly bend your knees, with your toes facing the net. Keep your gaze forward with an eye on your competition and the birdie.

    • 5

Lean forward as you hold the racquet and perfect the stance. Hold your badminton racquet with your stronger hand, at eye level. Move the coordinating foot whenever you move the racquet hand. They move together at all times.

    • 6

Remember to stay diagonal to your opponent.

Tips & Warnings

  • Wear appropriate footwear that has flexibility and resilience.

  • Always stand far enough away from the net so that your raquet cannot touch it.
