Step back with your left foot from a standing position and start to go into a kneeling position.

Follow with your right foot.

Sit down on your heels. Your toes will be bent and supporting the weight of your bottom.

Place your open hands on your thighs.

Move into the bow by following Steps 1, 2 and 3 in "Bowing When Entering the Dojo," above. The basic position is the same.

Place your open hands on the floor in front of you with the thumbs and first fingers touching.

Bow down toward your hands, but always make eye contact with your opponent.
