Step 1
Place the upper part of your front arm firmly against your rib cage.
-
Step 2
Extend your front forearm (while holding the club) so that the club face rests behind the ball. Make sure to square the club face so that it is even with the direction you wish to hit the ball.
-
Step 3
Set a spot a few yards ahead of the ball to check that you are indeed square with the ball and the pin. When aiming the ball it's helpful to have a point of reference that is in your field of vision when checking this. You can use a broken tee, dry patch of grass, leaf or any other marker you wish when aiming this alignment.
-
Step 4
Settle into your stance. You can now relax your front arm and settle into your golf stance as you normally would. Just make sure the club stays square.
-
Step 5
Allow the club to do the work. Many people try to compensate for the angle in the club face. Meaning they try to get "under" the ball for lift or drive down on top of the ball to hit a line drive. The angle is why you chose the club. Just keep it at 90 degrees, focus on the mechanics of your swing and let the club do the work.
