There are three ways to fix a flat MX tire on a motocross bike. You can replace the tube, patch the puncture hole or squirt foam into the tire tube. Patching is the cheapest. Bike tires lose pressure with use just like a car—-sometimes all they need is a little bit of air.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Check to see if the tire has a puncture hole. If so, repair it and then add air.

  2. Step 2

Determine if the tire has a slow leak that may require constant observation. A tire with a slow leak cannot be trusted.

  3. Step 3

Learn about high-pressured tires like the MX tires on the motocross. It is important to check the pressure every week.

  4. Step 4

Install the tire completely on the rim. Take the time to look at the tire and see if it is "seated." If a tire seats properly, it sits at the same depth all away around the rim.

  5. Step 5

Make sure the tire is off the ground when you begin to inflate. If the tire is off the ground, the tire seats itself naturally.

  6. Step 6

Pump air into the MX tire slowly. Get the correct shape before you inflate all the way. Once the tire is circular, you can finish the inflation.

  7. Step 7

Read the owner's manual to determine the lbs. of pressure the tire can withstand and don't fill over the limit.

Tips & Warnings
  • It is important to always read the owner's manual before making repairs.
  • Never over-inflate a tire—-they can and do explode.
