Step 1
Purchase the insects that poison dart frogs enjoy eating. Give them fruit flies as well as crickets. You can purchase live insects for feeding at almost any pet store. You want to make sure that the insects are small and easy for the poison dart frogs to eat.
-
Step 2
Plan to feed the frogs based on their size and age. For older and heavier frogs, you normally feed them as little as five times a week. For younger and smaller frogs, plan to give them food at least once or twice a day.
-
Step 3
Add vitamins to the insects that you plan to feed the poison dart frogs. To provide them with the right type of nutrition, use a vitamin powder to dust the insects. Only use a moderate amount on the insects because the power can cause mold to grow in the terrarium.
-
Step 4
Place the live insects inside the terrarium. Take note of the amount that the frogs eat at each sitting and use this information to determine how many insects to give the frogs each time.

on 9/9/2008 Note: a good judgement of food size is a little under the size of the frog's mouth.
Additionally, poison dart frogs get their "poison" from their diet in the wild. when bred in captivity, these frogs lose much of their "poison", though handling is still not recommended as this can be stressful to the frog and their skin is such that it absorbs the chemicals of what touches it.
