The Brain Twister yo-yo trick is on the easier side of the moderate-level tricks, but, like any trick that involves more than simply letting the yo-yo go up and down, looks very impressive to those who don't know how to do it. With a minimal amount of practice and control, you can have this trick down in a short time.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Give the yo-yo a sharp thrust downward, to set it into a good, solid "sleeper" motion. Once the yo-yo is spinning well, you're ready to move into the Brain Twister procedure.
Step2
Start the yo-yo forward, as a slight pendulum move, and using the index finger of your non-throwing hand in the center of the string, push it forward and upward so that the yo-yo ends up some inches directly above your throwing hand.
Step3
Continue holding the yo-yo in position above your throwing hand, and using your throwing hand, bring the string up into the groove of the yo-yo. Get your throwing hand in place about half the distance to your non-throwing hand.
Step4
Use pressure toward you by the index finger of your throwing hand on the string to swing the yo-yo around your non-throwing hand. Do this carefully, being sure to keep your hands apart, not touching the yo-yo itself.
Step5
Do as many swings around your non-throwing hand as you want to or as many as you can before losing the velocity of your yo-yo. The Brain Twister is characterized by these pendulum-like swings around your hand.
Step6
Dismount carefully by letting your throwing hand down, freeing the yo-yo from being held in suspension. Then with a flick of your wrist, bring the yo-yo back into your hand.
