Storage shelves add extra storage space to your garage. The front plate on storage shelves ensures that the shelves will be level from front to back. It is very important to install the front plate properly so that items don't slide off the shelves or cause the shelves to tip over.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wooden board
  • Screws
  • Drill or screwdriver
  • Level
  1. Step 1

Lay a wooden board on the ground. The wooden board should be the same size that you used on the back plate. This will be your front plate.

  2. Step 2

Place a screw about one foot from the end of the front plate. The screw should be long enough to go through the board and into the back plate.

  3. Step 3

Drill the screw part of the way into the front plate. Repeat on the other end of the front plate.

  4. Step 4

Hold the front plate up against the back plate. The end of the front plate should be even with the back plate.

  5. Step 5

Tighten the screw on one end of the front plate to loosely secure the front plate to the back plate.

  6. Step 6

Ensure that the front plate and back plate are level using a bubble level then tighten the screw on the other side of the front plate.

  7. Step 7

Repeat these steps for the remaining front plates for your storage shelves.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not tighten the screws too tight. You will have to remove the screws later when you separate the front plate from the back plate to install the storage shelves.
