Things You'll Need:
-
Step 1
Select a neutral color palette of browns, tans or grays. These shades are flattering to most skin tones and will give you the versatility to add more colors as you find which shades work for you.
-
Step 2
Stick with matte finish powder eye shadow. These shadows have a sheer finish and little to no shine. Matte finish shadows provide rich color and can be worn during both day and evening.
-
Step 3
Decide on two complementary shades from your color palette; one should be lighter than the other.
-
Step 1
Sweep a thin, even coat of the darker shade over your entire lower eyelid using the brush. This helps give a natural look.
-
Step 2
Tap the brush on the edge of the sink or another surface to remove excess shadow.
-
Step 3
Follow with a coat of the lighter shade, from the lower lid all the way up to the eyebrow. This coat should also be thin.
-
Step 4
Blend both colors with your finger so no line exists between them; you should not be able to tell where one color ends and the other begins.
