You love to play a good game of pick up broomball with your friends, but you'd all like a little bit more competition than you can get playing with whoever you can dig up. Starting a broomball league could be your answer and with these simple steps you'll find that starting your own broomball league is easier than you thought.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Obtain an official rule book or create your own official rules, to make sure that everyone is playing fair. If you're going to create your own you may want to obtain one from the official broom ball website as a guide, to cut down on any potential questions that may arise.

  2. Step 2

Purchase equipment such as a net, brooms and balls. Get a few extra balls, as they can be ruined during any game.

  3. Step 3

Check on open ice or parks with free ice rinks for your teams to practice on. Teams are going to be more willing to practice if they have a free place to practice.

  4. Step 4

Determine if you're going to have an indoor or outdoor league. Most leagues are indoor, but you can substantially cut down on the costs if you have an outdoor league.

  5. Step 5

Put up posters and start recruiting your neighbors, friends, family and fellow ice lovers to join. Put posters up at your local skating rinks or on campuses.

  6. Step 6

Decide how much you're going to ask the teams to contribute to join the league. Do league fundraisers or just allow each team to come up with the money on their own. Get sponsors like bars or restaurants to cut down out of pocket costs for players.

  7. Step 7

Find uniforms or jerseys for your teams. You can roll this price into the start up fee for each team to join your league or you can allow each team to provide for their own uniforms. Generally, if you've managed to get corporate backing for your team they provide the jerseys with their company name on them.
