How to Build a Sand Castle Tower

Building sand castles may seem like child's play, but there isn't a better way to enjoy the sun at the beach. A big, beautiful castle will draw crowds of admirers. Besides that, using your creativity to make amazing sand castles complete with tall towers is just plain fun.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

• Wet sand
• Flat stick
• Drinking straw
• Soft brush

1. Dig a large area to work in. Keep digging until you hit wet sand. You can use tools for this, but your hands work just as well.
2. Make a very large pile of wet sand. You want this pile to be tall and wide, as you'll shape your castle by removing sand rather than adding to it. Make sure the sand is very wet.
3. Decide where you want your towers to be. Make a rough shape of the towers before you worry about sculpting them in detail.
4. Remove the sand around all sides of a tower so that it stands alone. Leave enough space so that you can easily reach to clean and detail your sand castle.
5. Use a small, flat stick to carve turrets, windows or brick imprints if you so choose. The style can be as elaborate or as rustic as you like. Just remember to have fun.
6. Clean your tower of unwanted sand by using a soft brush to smooth its surface. Use a drinking straw to gently blow the unwanted sand away.
