A lacy lattice pattern is an open eyelet stitch that gets repeated every six stitches and every eight rows. Although the final product will look more complicated, you'll really only need to know how to knit and purl to accomplish this pattern.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Figure out how many repeat patterns you would like per row. Multiply that number by six and add one. Then cast on that number of stitches.

  2. Step 2

Start your lacy lattice pattern by knitting one stitch. Repeat this pattern to the end of the row: yarn over, purl one, purl three together. Then purl one, yarn over, and knit one.

  3. Step 3

Purl all of the even rows. After you purl row eight, you can repeat the entire lacy lattice pattern from Step 2 to Step 7.

  4. Step 4

Begin row three. Knit two, yarn over, slip one stitch from left needle to right needle, knit two together, pass one slip stitch over another, and yarn over. Then repeat the following pattern to the end of the row: knit three, yarn over, slip one stitch, knit two together, pass one slip stitch over another, and yarn over. Finish the row by knitting two.

  5. Step 5

Complete row five. Purl two together, purl one, yarn over, knit one, yarn over, and purl one. Repeat the following pattern to the end of the row: purl three together, purl one, yarn over, knit one, yarn over, and purl one. Finish the row by purling the last two stitches together.

  6. Step 6

Knit two together, yarn over, knit three, and yarn over to start row seven. Repeat the following patter until you get down to the last two stitches: slip one stitch, knit two together, pass a slipped stitch over, yarn over, knit three, and yarn over. When you get to the last two stitches, slip one stitch, knit the second stitch, and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch.

  7. Step 7

Work the eighth and final row of the lacy lattice pattern by purling straight across. Then repeat Steps 2 through 7 to make a longer lacy lattice piece.
