The art of break dancing has many wonderful free flowing moves. Artists can express themselves by combining non-traditional dance moves that incorporate agility, strength, ingenuity and good old rhythm. Here is how to do a popular break dancing move called "Pull Throughs."

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Assume a push-up position on the ground.
Step2
Raise your backside so that you are forming a triangle with the ground.
Step3
Move your hands so they are slightly more than shoulder width apart. Also, make sure you are up on your fingertips.
Step4
Cross one foot over the other behind your body. (This is for beginners, eventually you will want to try to omit this step.)
Step5
Pull your legs through your upper body so that they are now in front of you.
Step6
Land on the balls of your feet so that you are ready to tackle the next dance step after the pull through.

Tips & Warnings

  • Pull throughs help you transition between different styles of footwork during your routine. Try doing a 6 step to a pull through then to a tripod spin for a cool little combo.
  • You may cheat slightly by lifting one of your arms while you pull your legs through. This may be helpful to men especially, who are slightly less agile than some of their female counterparts.
  • When first learning to break dance, use elbow and knee pads to help cushion your joints.
