Break dancing is not only an art form, but also it's a work out. With moves that seem to defy logic, break dancing requires timing, speed, strength and energy.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Get into a squat position as if you were a catcher in a baseball or softball game.
Step2
Extend one of your legs. It really doesn't matter which, most people simply use the one that feels more comfortable. This extended leg is the "blade" of the helicopter.
Step3
Place your arm of the leg that extends on the ground, knuckles down. This is going to be your pivot point as you rotate the "helicopter."
Step4
Wrap your extended leg around until it just about touches your crouched leg.
Step5
Hop off your crouched leg as you simultaneously use the hand that is on the ground as a pivot. While your crouched leg is in the air, your extended leg will sweep underneath.
Step6
Repeat this move as many times in a row as desired to create the effect of the helicopter blade whirring around and around.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you need more leverage or support, use a second arm. Place both arms in front of you as you pivot and bring your leg around and around.
  • Wear knee pads and gloves when practicing break dancing moves. Save the aesthetics for the performance as the concrete can put a lot of wear and tear on your body. Also, if performing moves where you travel through the air, use a helmet.
