Break dancing is a wonderful art form that burst onto the scene in the 1980s. Originally danced in the streets of cities, it has made its way to become mainstream. Many gyms and workout centers even offer classes. Here's how to do one of the more popular break dancing moves called the Zulu Spin.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Stand perpendicular in relation to your audience. Turn your body to the side so you can give yourself enough time to build momentum for your spin and end facing the audience.

  2. Step 2

Reach back with both hands behind upstage behind your body. Upstage merely means away from the audience.

  3. Step 3

Spin yourself forward so that you make a corkscrew-like motion. As you spin around, begin to go into a crouch, bringing you closer to the ground.

  4. Step 4

Touch the ground with the first hand that comes across your body. If you are spinning clockwise, that is your right hand; if you are spinning counter-clockwise that is your left hand.

  5. Step 5

Swing the opposite leg out as your body corkscrews toward the ground. If you are traveling clockwise this is your left leg, if you are traveling counter-clockwise this is your right leg.

  6. Step 6

Pull the extended leg back into your body while simultaneously crossing your arms. You have now made your body compact once again. Also the momentum that you are carrying will be enough to complete one maybe even two full rotations.

  7. Step 7

Finish the Zulu spin by either remaining squatted and going into your next move, or popping up on your feet for another break dancing move.

Tips & Warnings
  • Incorporate the Zulu spin in a dance routine with you and your friends. Add people traveling both clockwise and counter-clockwise throughout for an impressive touch.
