How to Do Nollies on a BMX Bike

The nollie is one of the more advanced bike tricks you can learn. It's a trick that originated in skateboarding and was adapted to BMX biking. It consists of lifting your back tire off of the ground and rotating your bike.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Begin the nollie by riding your bike and throwing your weight forward so your bike tire comes up off of the ground naturally.

  2. Step 2

    Bend your elbows and push off using your arms to create the momentum to gain vertical height.

  3. Step 3

    Land the nollie by allowing your rear tire to return to the ground, followed by your front tire.

  4. Step 4

    Practice the nollie on your BMX bike in order to master the basic skill. Once you've mastered the nollie, you can use it to perform nollie spins and many other advanced biking tricks.

Tips & Warnings
  • Nollie a small amount of air for a long time. Many of the biking world's most advanced riders nollie only a few inches off of the ground and still manage to perform highly advanced tricks.
