Step 1
Trap your opponent's arm when he extends it downward from your guard. Grab his right wrist with your right hand (or if it's his left arm exposed do the opposite). Grab his tricep with your left hand to keep his arm locked in place.

Step 2
Unlock your guard and plant your feet on the ground. Place your foot that's on the same side as his trapped arm onto your opponent's hip. Push out so your body pivots on the ground away from the hip you pushed off of.

Step 3
Remove your foot from his hip and flip it over your opponent's head so that your leg rests on the bend of his neck. His face should be away from you while his arm is trapped between your legs. Maintain your grip on his wrist and the back of his tricep as you raise your hips slightly (in practice scenarios) or quickly (in actual fights) to apply the armbar from the jiu jitsu guard.
