Instructions
  1. Step 1

Learn the different types of crystal beads. Beads are imported from China, the Czech Republic and Austria. Swarovski crystals are from Austria and are, by far, the favorite of jewelry makers.

  2. Step 2

Add variety to your project by using different shapes and sizes. Crystal beads come in cubes and bi-cone shapes and are available in different sizes, from very small measurements, to larger accent pieces. Accent pieces come in a variety of shapes, such as stars, snowflakes and seashells.

  3. Step 3

Put that extra bit of glitter into your jewelry by using crystal beads with different finishes. There is a variety available on the market. Some are completely coated, others only partially. Each has a different affect that you can showcase in your design.

  4. Step 4

Mix crystal beads with other types of beads. This adds visual interest to your piece. Crystal beads can be your accent pieces or can just be there for that extra sparkle and diversity. Mix crystal beads with glass beads or other natural beads, such as fresh water pearls.

  5. Step 5

Look around at the jewelry you already own. You may have strings of crystal beads that can be restrung or jazzed up. Possibilities are everywhere.

  6. Step 6

Visit a bead shop, if possible, to actually see the crystal beads and the difference in shapes, colors and finishes. You can also see samples of jewelry designed with crystal beads.
