Bathroom sinks accumulate everything from mouthfuls of toothpaste to soap scum. Fortunately, most sinks are made of durable materials that can withstand the assault and are easy to clean. You should clean the bathroom sink at least once a week with wipe-downs after each use.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Rubber gloves
  • Paper towels
  • All-purpose cleaner
  • Scrubbing pads
  • Cleaning cloths

Step1
Put on your gloves. Pull up on the sink plug and remove it. Take a paper towel or cleaning cloth and remove all junk, hair and other accumulated items from the plug. Discard the gunk in the garbage can and replace the stopper.
Step2
Clean and, if necessary, scrub the sink thoroughly. This takes extra effort if it has been some time between cleanings or there is significant build-up of toothpaste, make-up, lotion or any other products. Spray the cleaner and scrub with the pad or cleaning cloths. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Replace the cleaner in its storage spot and rinse all used pads with warm water.
Step3
Wipe the sink dry with a paper towel after you're finished. Water spots are especially visible on stainless-steel sinks but in the right light are noticeable on all types of sinks. Dispose of the paper towel in the trash can. Take off the gloves.
Step4
Maintain bathroom cleanliness between your weekly cleanings by giving the sink a wipe and a dry with a cleansing cloth and paper towel each time you use it. Store the cloths under the sink for quick access.

Tips & Warnings

  • When trying a new cleaner or scrubbing tool, do a small test-patch in the corner of the sink to make sure it doesn't damage your sink.
  • Use baking soda as a natural and safe alternative; it also helps with odors.
