Be the hit of your child's next birthday party by creating balloon animals for the kids. Making balloon animals can be done using a few simple turn techniques. The lion is one balloon animal that can be made using one balloon, but will provide entertainment for hours as your child uses his imagination playing with it.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Size 260 yellow balloon
  • Black permanent marker
  1. Step 1

Blow up the balloon leaving six inches deflated at the end.

  2. Step 2

Twist the balloon to create four bubbles that are 1 inch, 1/2 inch, 1/4 inch, and 1/2 inch in size. Form the lower jaw by using the pinch twist technique on the 1 inch bubble. A pinch twist is when you twist the ends of a bubble together "folding" over the bubble inside.

  3. Step 3

Lock twist the remaining three bubbles to make the cheeks and nose. A lock twist is used with a group of three bubbles to lock the second two together. This twist works to create cheeks with a nose sticking out, or to create legs to come off the body of a balloon animal.

  4. Step 4

Make the top part of the head by then making a three to four inch bubble and loop twisting it. A loop twist is done by taking the bubble and folding it back onto itself and then twisting the ends together.

  5. Step 5

Create the mane by making a series of seven 1 inch bubbles looping them around the top of the head. Pinch twist two of the bubbles in the mane to make the lion's ears.

  6. Step 6

Make a basic balloon animal body with lock twist legs.

  7. Step 7

Use a marker to draw a face with a triangular nose, whiskers, and eyes for more specific detail.
