Things You'll Need:
- Material
- Mat
- Cutting tool
- Ruler
-
Step 1
Measure the pieces for the middle, the inside and the edges before you begin. You will need accurate measurements before you begin cutting the fabric.
-
Step 2
Use a cutting tool or a cutting wheel to cut the pieces cleanly and a cutting or quilting mat to place them on.
-
Step 3
Place the center piece of fabric on the cutting mat, lining the outer left edge with a line on the mat. Fold the center piece upward so that it is in half.
-
Step 4
Hold the ruler against the edge of the fabric making sure the line is straight. Cut the outer edge of the fabric against the ruler to make a perfectly even cut side.
-
Step 5
Cut the right side straight along the ruler making another perfectly even side.
-
Step 6
Find the inside pieces next and cut them into smaller pieces also using the quilting mat and the cutting tool. Put them aside after they are cut.
-
Step 7
Cut the border pieces last. Fold each smaller piece of fabric in half. Straighten the edges along the ruler and cut the border pieces to the correct size.
