Many practitioners now choose to learn Ayurvedic techniques to treat a variety of ailments. One technique used to promote healing and energize the person is Ayurvedic massage. If you wish to practice Ayurvedic massage, you need to know the pressure points in the body, including the ones found in the legs.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Print out a chart that shows the different pressure points on the legs. Use the chart to memorize the points used in Ayurvedic massage. You can print out a chart on the Sanatan Society website.

  2. Step 2

Study how each pressure point affects different parts of the body. As you massage the pressure points, the body's natural processes respond. When you massage the pressure points in the legs, you improve digestion, kidney function and pancreatic function, and increase a person's metabolism.

  3. Step 3

Time how long you spend on each pressure point. Timing is very important when performing Ayurvedic massage. You want to spend about 10 seconds on each spot that you massage on the legs.

  4. Step 4

Adjust the pressure to reflect the client's comfort level. If the client indicates that they feel any discomfort, reduce the amount of pressure that you apply during the massage.

Tips & Warnings
  • If a person suffers from a particular ailment, you want to spend more time massaging the pressure point that corresponds with that area of the body.
  • The pressure points used in Ayurvedic massage are found at the tops of the legs and feet.
