Waxing is a method of hair removal that temporarily removes unwanted body hair. It removes hair from the root, and re-growth rate varies by person. Generally, you must repeat waxing in 2 to 4 weeks. You can go to a salon for waxing, but it's easy to apply wax at home.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Warm the wax, following the package instructions. Avoid overheating the wax to prevent burning. You can test the temperature on the underside of your wrist.

  2. Step 2

Apply the wax to the area you would like to remove hair from with a wooden stick or the provided tool. It's a good idea to test the wax on an inconspicuous area to make sure you don't have an allergic reaction to it.

  3. Step 3

Lay the fabric or paper strips over the wax.

  4. Step 4

Wait for the wax to cool and slightly harden, then pull the strips off. Pull in the opposite direction of the hair growth.

  5. Step 5

Apply hand pressure to the area to reduce discomfort. Your skin may be red and sore for a little bit

Tips & Warnings
  • Cover all surface areas in the room where you plan to wax. The wax can damage fabrics, carpet and some wood and vinyl surfaces.
  • Consult your doctor before waxing if you are taking medications or using medicated creams.
  • Avoid the sun and tanning booths for 48 hours before and after waxing.
  • Don't wax areas of skin that are dry, chapped, cracked or otherwise injured.
