How to Get Acrylic Nails and Artificial Tips

By eHow Contributing Writer

Acrylic nails and artificial tips are applied over your natural nails. They give your hands a finished look without requiring you to go through the frustration of growing your natural nails. Deciding on whether to wear them depends on different factors in your life and personal preferences.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose a nail salon. Many places apply acrylic nails, from full service salons to places that specialize in just acrylic nails.

  2. Step 2

Ensure the place you pick practices sanitary methods. Make sure they use antibacterial soap and sanitize tools between each client.

  3. Step 3

Talk to your manicurist about your options. This includes types, lengths, polishes and nail art. Make sure you understand the differences. Ask them to answer any question you might have.

  4. Step 4

Care for your acrylic nails and tips. Once you have acrylic nails applied, care for them as you would your natural nails.

  5. Step 5

Receive fills for your acrylic nails when needed. How often you need a fill depends on how fast your natural nail grows. A fill is simply when your manicurist fills the space between the cuticle and the existing acrylic nail.

  6. Step 6

Remove the acrylic nail at a salon or at home. There are artificial nail removers available in stores. Avoid using clippers, as this can be painful.

Tips & Warnings
