Keeping your kitchen appliances clean and shiny is easy if you have the right equipment and you clean the items regularly. Knowing a few secrets, such as using vinegar to rinse out your coffeemaker, makes the process even simpler.

From Quick Guide: Cleaning Appliances
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Keep white appliances sparkling with a bleach and water solution. Make sure that your white refrigerator, stove and dishwasher stay bright and clean by wiping them down periodically with a mixture of one-half cup bleach in eight cups of water.

  2. Step 2

Scour rough appliance surfaces with white toothpaste. To clean those rough places on appliances, such as door handles and trim, use white toothpaste on an old toothbrush. This gets the dirt out of the grooves without scratching the surface.

  3. Step 3

Use vinegar to clean your coffeemaker. Run a vinegar and water mixture through your coffeemaker every month or so to remove buildup inside of the machine. For best results, let the vinegar sit in the machine overnight before rinsing. To rinse, run the machine twice with plain water.

  4. Step 4

Vacuum the grill beneath the refrigerator regularly. Sweep the lint and dirt from the grill of your refrigerator at the same time you sweep your kitchen floor. Use the brush attachment to get all of the grooves. Every six months, take the grill completely off the machine and clean it thoroughly.

  5. Step 5

Clean the inside of your microwave with dishwasher detergent or baking soda. Use glass cleaner for the outside of the door. To deodorize your microwave, leave a cup of vinegar inside the machine overnight.

Tips & Warnings
  • Never use a commercial oven cleaner to clean a microwave oven.
