Things You'll Need:
- Several sizes of artists canvases
-
Step 1
Place a barrier inside the shirt. The barrier should be fitted so the front of the shirt is held taut for airbrushing while the back is protected from absorbing the paint or being painted by overspray. A simple artist's canvas works well as a barrier.
-
Step 2
Secure the sleeves and attach them to the back of the shirt to protect them as well. You can flip them inside-out and place them behind the barrier.
-
Step 3
Place the shirt on an easel raised to a comfortable working level. You can purchase an easel from any local artist supply store or make one from scrap lumber.
-
Step 4
Prepare the surface to be painted by removing any wrinkles, bags or sags in the material. Secure it taut, using clamps to avoid making holes.
-
Step 5
Practice with simple designs. You'll gain a greater understanding of how airbrushing on fabric works and gain the confidence to complete more difficult projects.
