Step 1
Prepare to practice the Shomen Uchi-Shiho Nage. You need a large, clear area, floor mats and an Aikido partner.
-
Step 2
Stand 2 to 3 feet away from your partner. Face each other.
-
Step 3
Instruct your partner to walk forward and grab the collar of your shirt.
-
Step 4
Raise your arm before he grabs you and push his arm out. Move in the opposite direction of the attack to slide out of his reach.
-
Step 5
Grab your opponent's wrist and forearm as you slide sideways.
-
Step 6
Turn sideways into his arm. Twist his wrist and arm up. Pull and twist his wrist toward his neck. At this point, his arm is bent at the elbow and pulled backward to the back of his shoulder.
-
Step 7
Move under your opponent's arm and force him to lay on his back. This, along with other Aikido moves, requires less force than you might think.
-
Step 8
Twist his arm and wrist to force your attacker onto his side to complete the Uchi-Shiho Nage.
