Sambo is a martial arts that originated in Russia and is practiced all over the world. Advanced Sambo techniques can increase your fighting abilities and give you an effective method of self-defense.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Understand the basic hip throw. The first advanced takedown discussed will be a play off of the basic hip throw and how to respond when an opponent changes the sequence of the hip throw move.

  2. Step 2

Combine the rolling knee bar to compensate for any change in the hip throw. If an opponent eludes your hip throw, transition to a rolling knee bar. When an opponent's knees are apart, step in and enter the area to complete a rolling knee bar.

  3. Step 3

Practice this move repeatedly in slow motion. You must learn to use it without thinking. Switch positions with your opponent and allow him to practice the move on you until you can react quickly and instinctively to counter it.

  4. Step 4

Use the move at full speed, after you have down the placement of the transition. This will help you get to the technique level you need when transitioning between advanced Sambo moves.
