The sitting arm bar move in Sambo martial arts is an extremely effective technique that is useful in martial arts or MMA events. Like many of the grappling techniques, it is one that's difficult from which to escape. It is also a challenging technique to master. Practice the move slowly at first and learn each section of the move thoroughly before doing it in real time. When you do master the move, it'll be another effective technique in your martial arts arsenal.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Stand before your opponent and grasp his right forearm as he grasps your left shoulder with his right hand. Your opponent should grasp your right sleeve or your wrist with his left hand.

  2. Step 2

Begin the sitting arm bar move in Sambo martial arts by pinning his right hand against your left shoulder with your left hand. By doing this, you are controlling his arm.

  3. Step 3

Grasp his left shoulder with your right hand.

  4. Step 4

Bring your right leg up, knee bent, across your opponent's belly. Your shin will angle a little to the left so that your foot will be beside or a little below his hip.

  5. Step 5

Sit down, still grasping your opponent, and trap his right hand between your legs.

  6. Step 6

Land on your back, keeping his right arm pinned, and then swing both legs down and sit up. Your left leg will press against your opponent's throat while your right foot will tuck beneath your opponent's torso.

  7. Step 7

Pin your opponent's left arm against your torso, and hold it in place with both of your arms. His hand will lie, palm uppermost, against your left shoulder.

  8. Step 8

Lean your torso back slowly, stopping when your opponent taps or when you are stopped by the referee.
